Process left running in the background

I have found something interesting, on Windows 8.1. I am using a licensed version of Embrio.
When I exit Embrio, there is still a process left behind. Running in the back ground.
I discovered this when I had been playing for many hours and opening and closing Embrio many times before rebooting, the computer became very slow. I had about 10 of these background processes still running.

There are a bunch of background loops and it sounds reasonable that at least one isn't stopped correctly. I'll see if I can find them and fix that for a future update.

Thanks, it's not a show stopper. But I thought you would want something to do.
With all the stuff you have been doing lately I am surprised you responded so quickly.

This continues with 1.2.1.0
It seems that it is spawned at each start of the main program and leaves it running in the background. Sometimes it is using significant processing power.
I have had many running in the background after doing a lot of play, some using 25-50% of processing resources. Windows 8.1.

Yeah this one gave me a lot of trouble. I'm not sure what's causing it, as far as I can tell all of the threads are stopped when the program shuts down but I must be missing something. There is a command to kill all threads in an application which works fine in windows 7, but it turns out to cause a crash in windows 8... I'll spend some more time trying to solve it but I didn't want to delay the new version which alreqdy took a longer than I was hoping to get finished.
Out of curiosity, what is making you restart the application a lot? Is that done to get around some issue?

I often restart the program multiple time a day when I get distracted due to real life stuff (WIFE or WORK), so I shut down and do the masters bidding.
I like a lot of users will have many projects on the go a one time, I do web programming as well as database and regular office type work.
I don't have many issues with Embrio, but on occasion will shut it down to determine if there it is the cause of some issue.
**************
I also note that it seems Embrio leaves a lot of files/folders in the temp directory, this may be related the the orphaned process.

Ok good to know it's not because of problems with the software. I'll keep trying to figure it out, it's really annoying to have left over processes.
My next big task is to do a cross platform version, the problem might just go away in that version because I'll be using a different ui framework.
